Edmonton International Film Festival
To put it mildly, 2020 was undeniably, incorrigibly strange. For the Edmonton International Film Festival (EIFF), it meant pirouetting to a new collective reality.
We knew the festival’s promo campaign couldn’t ignore the gravity of the moment. We also knew people were overwhelmed by ‘we’re in this together’ bullshit. The work had to be topical, yet totally unique. Recognizing EIFF as a purveyor of eclectic films not found anywhere else in Edmonton, we presented the absurdity of 2020 as an ideal backdrop for the festival’s one-of-a-kind cinema. I crafted some fittingly existential lines. A crack team of illustrators worked their magic. And the show, as they say, went on.
